Cipher Cellars

I’ve been working on a branding and labeling project for a friend I’ve had since Kindergarten. Her name is Christine Collier; I accredit her for my competitiveness in the classroom. In Kindergarten we each had these construction paper animals on the bulletin board, and every time you took a book home and read it you got a sticker, and every time you got 10 stickers you got a prize. By the end of the year Christine and I were neck and neck with getting the most books read in the year; I’m glad to say this girl still eggs me on to take on more, do more, be more. Her and her boyfriend have started a wine label in Southern Oregon, she is currently the youngest person at age 24 to have her wine-making license (I know there’s a name for it, but I’m Mormon and have never tasted alcohol let alone a glass of Shiraz, and I’m writing this off the cuff — so I don’t know the exact name for it). She approached me at the end of last year about working with them, and I was thrilled she thought of me. To work with someone that’s very business and marketing driven, and knows their limitations of their artistic skills to let someone else step in is a dream! AND to create a brand that is aimed toward a hip demographic that likes hip design is even better.

The labels should be done by the end of the month, and the wine will be out in the spring.

Here’s a sneak peak!

Oh yeah, she’s entered a contest via Dockers Facebook page to win $10,000 to help her and her boyfriend start up this company. So vote. and vote daily. It doesn’t take long, and they don’t send you junk mail, so why not support someone in this country that’s taking a risk and making something of themselves.
